New reports suggest that an untethered jailbreak for iOS 5 is closer than Apple would like to think.
There are currently no known ways to jailbreak your iPhone or iPad using an untethered solution, but one hacker named pod2G claims hes found the way.
At the current time, the only way for normal users to jailbreak their iOS devices is to plug them directly into their computers. This tethered jailbreak means that every time you have to restart your device or turn it off, that you have to plug it back in to your computer to jailbreak. As annoying as this is, it seems that Apple has had the upper hand against hackers lately.
A recent tweet by the infamous Apple hacker “MuscleNerd” states that a new jailbreak tool update from Redsn0w is set to hit Windows and Mac computers in the near future. An exact date of this exploits release is still unknown. Also, here is a video that pod2G posted on jailbreakmatrix.com proving his untethered jailbreak method works.
