Netflix Users Can No Longer Add DVD’S To Que

The popular movie rental company Netflix has announced that they are dropping their “add to DVD queue” option from all devices that have online streaming capabilities.

These devices include your iPad, iPhone, Xbox, PS3 and any other devices that can stream live videos.

Of course this will not be a big deal to most users, considering that majority of people have already moved to the “streaming only” plan. However, there still remains a large group of people that enjoy subscribing to actual DVD’s when their requested video aren’t available for streaming. Netflix has obviously changed their policies because they are trying to encourage users to become more internet savvy in 2011.

According to a statement from Netflix, “we want to concentrate on offering customers the titles that are available to watch instantly. The company also stated in their blog that by keeping the DVD rental option available, that it complicates the instant watching experience for viewers, thus slowing down your internet streaming feature. (whatever this means!)

What do you think about this new policy from Netflix? I would love to hear the opinions from people who currently rent from them..

  • If Netflix offered better movies on their watch instantly list, we wouldn’t have to order DVDs in the mail. The most current and popular are not available to stream. If they want to encourage us to be more internet savvy, they need to become that way as well.

  • I think its crap, i dont have internet and i get my movie rentals through my family i tell them one movie i want to watch, and they get it for me on their que list. not everyone can stream instantly and taking that feature away will cost them many customers, who can just as soon walk to the nearest red box. they want to lose money to a dvd vending machine on the side of macdonalds they sure found a way to do it.

  • I have a handicapped daughter that watches DVD that we order from Netflix, and she does not have access to the internet all. But, I order streaming videos that I am able to watch. We have to screen what she watches due to her condition, so she will not be able to get access to movies that upset her. So if this stops us from ordering the movies she needs, I will just drop the service.

  • first time here and I just wanted to stop by to say hello!

  • We cannot afford to stream as many videos as we would watch with our current data option. We cancelled our Netflix service as soon as we heard about this. If it were possible to get an unlimited data plan where we live it would make sense, but we don’t have that option. I’m betting a lot of other customers will drop them too. Really surprised Netflix made this decision.

  • To make a long story short, I have my reasons for ordering DVDs. If Netflix goes thru with this plan then I will need to re evaluate our relationship.

  • The iPad Netflix app does not have the option to add DVD to your que, but you could just use your browser to go to netflix.om and add your DVD choices there

I think this is just nonsense. I don’t want to stream and I really enjoyed the dvd system. Guess I will just discontinue the service. Sorry to do this, BUT—-.
