China Unicom offers in-store jailbreaking service

The official authorized iPad and iPhone reseller in China, China Unicom, is officially offering “jailbreaking” services to its customers.  Recent advertisements inside their stores clearly advertise “Sim Trimming” and “Jailbreaking” as well as the “installation of more than 10 hot apps”.

Since Jailbreaking tools aren’t available for the iOS 4.0.2, Unicom is obviously only offering to jailbreak the older iPad and iPhone models. The iPhone 4 is set to hit stores in China sometime in early September.

China Offers Jailbreaking service

Since Unicom is the only official reseller in China, it’s unsure why they would jeopardize their relationship with Apple by offering such services. I am very curious to see what Apple has to say about this recent development especially since they are very much against jailbreaking their devices… even though a recent judge found it “legal”.

I’m curious to hear your thoughts on this…
